An institution with over a decade of training healthcare professionals in Niger State deserved a web presence that matched that credibility. Challenge College of Health Technology had the reputation. They needed the digital foundation to back it up.
The Brief
The college needed more than a brochure website. They needed a platform that could clearly communicate their NBTE accreditation, showcase their programs, guide prospective students through admissions, and surface scholarship opportunities. And all of it needed to load fast on the mobile connections most Nigerian students use.
Stack Decisions
We used our standard Laravel, Vue.js, and MySQL stack, chosen for its reliability, SEO-friendliness, and ease of content management:
- Laravel powered the backend: page content, program data, contact form handling, and a lightweight admin panel so college staff could update content without calling a developer.
- Vue.js gave us a fast, reactive frontend that felt modern without adding JavaScript bloat. That matters on 3G connections.
- MySQL stored program listings, faculty profiles, and news updates in a structured, queryable format.
Key Challenges
Nigerian internet infrastructure shaped every performance decision we made:
- Images were aggressively compressed and lazy-loaded. First contentful paint came in under 1.5 seconds on a 3G connection
- All critical content (programs, contact info, accreditation details) renders server-side for instant display and full Google indexability
- The admin panel was kept simple by design so college staff could manage content on their own without technical support
The second challenge was information architecture. Health science colleges have complex program structures: NBTE requirements, clinical hours, faculty credentials, lab facilities. We organized everything into a hierarchy that prospective students could navigate in under three clicks.
Results
The site launched and grew to 10,000+ monthly visitors within 30 days, driven by local search traffic from students in Minna and Niger State searching for health science programs.

What We Would Do Again
- Treat mobile performance as a first-class requirement in every Nigerian web project, not something to optimize later
- Build the admin panel before the public site. Knowing what staff can manage tells you what the public site can display
- Structure programs and faculty as data, not static pages. It makes future updates much faster
